Sonét Boisits | Clinical Psychologist

Clinical Psychologist

Sonét holds a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cape Town.

She completed her internship at the Tygerberg Hospital, where she developed her psychotherapeutic and assessment skills as part of the Medical Psychology, Adult Psychiatry & Neuropsychology, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry rotations. Her community service was carried out at the Department of Correctional Services.

Prior to her master’s training, she held a dual HPCSA registration as a Psychometrist (independent practice) and Registered Counsellor. Her work experience in the health, education and military sectors introduced her to mental health research, training and supervision, conducting psychometric assessments and working therapeutically with a diverse population.

She also completed trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT) training as part of a three-year UCT research project.

In addition to her professional career, Sonét carries a strong sense of social responsibility and has volunteered for various mental health and trauma support community initiatives over the years.

Therapeutically, she works collaboratively and carefully considers her client’s unique needs, with the intention of enhancing holistic care. While her therapeutic work is psychodynamically informed, she draws from a range of psychological techniques and brief focussed therapeutic modalities (CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, BA).

She believes that there is no ultimate formula for providing treatment and strives to create a supportive and comfortable environment to stimulate self-expression, self-awareness and personal functioning.

In addition to individual psychotherapy, drawing from her skillset, she has an interest in developmental, personality and neuropsychological assessments. Other areas of interest include maternal mental health and attachment, anxiety, depression and trauma-related disorders.

Sonét is proficient in English and Afrikaans. She works with adults, adolescents and children.
